2026 H2Ohio Rivers Chloride Reduction Grant Announcement

Bainbridge Township is pleased to announce that our Service Department has been awarded $75,000 through the Ohio EPA’s H2Ohio Chloride Reduction Grant Program. This funding will allow the Township to upgrade to a more reliable, weather-protected brine production system, increasing our ability to pre-wet road salt and optimize application rates.

These upgrades will provide several long-term benefits by improving system reliability, reducing downtime and maintenance costs, and helping staff apply a more consistent product across all plow routes. Reducing salt use will also help stabilize winter material costs, making more effective use of road maintenance funds, and decreasing the amount of chloride entering local streams and waterways, supporting regional water-quality goals.

Overall, this funding will strengthen the Township’s ability to provide safe, cost-effective winter road maintenance while achieving reductions in salt use.
